Our Vision > Environment > Air Quality
Air quality is an important local environmental issue. Several roads in Marlow town centre have been designated an official Air Quality Management Area (AQMA) due to high levels of nitrogen dioxide.
Policy on air quality is led by Buckinghamshire Council, but the Council is playing an active role to seek to speed up improvements.

In March 2020 the Council adopted its own Clean Air Plan including an objective of bringing nitrogen dioxide pollution back within legal limits by 2025.
One of the Council’s main actions is to educate Marlow residents, particularly drivers using the town centre.
The Council has put a banner over Spittal Street. asking motorists to reduce speed and drive smoothly to cut pollution. It is also asking drivers to avoid engine idling when stopped.
