Higginson Park Marlow
After last year’s success with ‘Party like The Queen’ for the Queen’s Jubilee, Marlow Town Council (MTC) is hosting another free community event in Higginson Park — ‘Party like The King’ — to celebrate The King’s Coronation on Saturday 6th of May, from 11am-5pm.
Mayor Richard Scott and Marlow Town Council cordially invite residents and visitors to watch and celebrate The Coronation of King Charles III together in true community spirit. The Coronation will be broadcast on a big screen in the park, so guests are invited to bring a blanket, listen to the Marlow Town Band, or pretend they’re King for the Day in the King’s Throne selfie tent (back by popular demand).
MTC has partnered with Marlow & District Round Table on this special day to bring the community a truly King-sized event. ‘Party like The King’ will run alongside the annual popular Marlow Round Table May Fayre and Duck Race event, providing endless entertainment and options for all ages and interests in one place. The free-to-enter events will be back-to-back with the May Fayre, which will be in its normal location by the children’s playground, with ‘Party like The King’ located near the Sir Steve Redgrave statue.
Prior to the day, local Marlow primary schools will be holding a ‘Crown Competition,’ whereby students will be asked to use whatever they have at home, can borrow, find, or forage, to create a crown reflecting the environmental spirit of King Charles III. All children who participate in the crown competition are encouraged to wear their crown on the day, and Marlow Town Mayor Richard Scott will select two final prize-winners.
People are invited to pack their own picnic, grab a fish n’ chips, a pint of Pimm’s or tea and cake and make a day of lounging in the sun (fingers crossed) in their Sunday finest — as if they were invited to the Coronation.
At The Marlow Round Table’s May Fayre, there will be endless family fun with rides, games, stalls, face painting, community entertainment and food. Marlow FM will be broadcasting live and the famous Duck Race will take place on The Thames.
