Marlow’s Great British Spring Clean Litter Pick

As part of the Great British Spring Clean, Councillors Natalia Mityaeva, Carol Heap, Chris Hoyle, David Brown and Deputy Mayor Jocelyn Towns joined The Marlow Wombles and members of the public on April 1st to litter-pick in and around the town.

Litter-picking took place in Station Road, Institute Road, town centre car parks, Higginson Park, Pound Lane and the High Street, resulting in twenty-five bags of rubbish being collected.

Jocelyn Towns, Deputy Mayor and head of the Environmental Committee at Marlow Town Council, said: “About thirty people, including several family groups, came to help with the Great British Litter Pick — a marvellous turnout. The Council handed out pickers, bags and gloves, though many turned up with their own kit, which was great to see. Many thanks to all who came along, and special thanks to Emma Hawkins and Debbie Farnfield from the Wombles for helping to publicise the event so well.”

The Great British Spring Clean is the nation’s biggest mass-action environmental campaign.
