On Saturday, 11th September the Marlow Carnival returned to Higginson Park after a two-year break.
For the first time this year’s Carnival included a special ‘Green Village’ of stands featuring local environmental groups and initiatives.
Marlow Town Council took part in the Green Village to highlight its Sustainable Marlow programme and other environmental work and to hear the views of residents. The stand presented information on the Council’s Carbon Audit, the Marlow Environmental Performance Index and the recent Marlow Eco-Schools Conference. There was also an interactive poster enabling residents to use stickers to say what they already do and what they could do in future to help combat climate change.
Jocelyn Towns, Chairman of the Council’s Environment and Sustainability Committee, said: “It was great to have the Carnival back this year, and there was a great atmosphere in the Green Village. It was good to see so many groups taking part and the strong engagement of residents and visitors alike. Thank you to the organisers for seeing the value in this great initiative.”
