Covid Vaccination Update 28 January 2021

Covid Vaccination Update 28 January 2021Marlow Medical Group (MMG) and our network of practices ran Covid Vaccination Clinics at Adams Park, High Wycombe on Friday 22nd, Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th January.  Despite the heavy snow on Sunday, over the three days we were able to vaccinate 2527 people, contributing to the record daily number of national vaccinations this weekend.

The large majority of our residents over 80 years of age have now been vaccinated or are booked in and waiting to be vaccinated.  We continue to follow up to ensure that all our patients receive their vaccination in priority group order. We are looking forward to receiving another delivery of vaccine for our network of practices this week and are now contacting the next priority groups to offer appointments at Adams Park, High Wycombe for clinics running on Friday 29 January and Monday 1 February.

We will shortly be releasing dates for more vaccination clinics next week as soon as vaccine delivery is confirmed. If you have a mobile number on your medical record you will receive a text from us which will enable you to book an appointment slot by clicking on the link in the text.  For patients without a mobile number on your medical record we will be calling you.  To enable us to focus on running the vaccination programme we kindly ask that you don’t call the surgery unless absolutely necessary.  We will contact you via text or phone call.

We are still planning the significant task of vaccination of our housebound residents which needs careful organisation to ensure that all vaccine can be administered each day within the refrigeration timescales but want to assure our residents we are working on this with maximum urgency. We would like to say a big thank you to Anna Morant and the Marlow Life, Marlow Bottom and Marlow Elves Facebook teams for liaising with local companies to provide food to our vaccination team.

This weekend we enjoyed Pizza from Marlow Pizzas and emergency sandwiches from Tesco Sands. Thank you very much for this kindness and all your lovely feedback and kind words. We are all very touched to hear your support for the vaccinating teams.

We would also like to say a huge thank you to our volunteers and marshalls from Community Impact Bucks and Marlow Rotary Club for their unstinting support and their help in clearing the site of snow on Sunday. Huge thanks also go to the amazing Bucks Fire and Rescue Service who cleared our site with their Urban Search and Rescue Team’s Bobcat snowplough as well as old fashioned hard manual labour. We are immensely grateful to them as ever for keeping the site open and safe for our residents to use.

Dr Penny Macdonald, MMG Managing Partner and Clinical Director for the Arc network of practices working out of the Adams Park site, High Wycombe was interviewed by Marlow FM on Monday 18 January.  We suggest you listen to this interview to learn lots more about the vaccination programme in our area.  You can listen again by going to https://www.marlowfm.co.uk/listen-again/  selecting the Afternoon Gold programme on Monday 18 January.  The interview starts 32 minutes into the programme.
