A moveable vehicle activation sign (MVAS) serves as a visual reminder to drivers to adhere to the speed limit and helps to deter reckless driving behaviour. By proactively addressing this issue, we can create a safer environment for all residents and promote responsible driving habits within our community.
To ensure safety and promote active travel, MTC has four Moveable Vehicle Activated Signs (MVAS).
These signs encourage drivers to slow down, creating safer places for active travel.

MVAS Request Form
Submitting a request to add your street to a list for consideration is a proactive step in addressing local concerns, such as traffic issues or safety hazards. However, it’s crucial to recognise that the inclusion of a street on the list may not always be immediately feasible for various reasons. Factors such as varying road conditions and lack of suitable infrastructure to mount the MVAS machine on can impact the effectiveness of the MVAS machines in accurately capturing vehicle speeds.
When submitting your request, we kindly request that you provide a postcode instead of a street name. This will enable us to ensure more precise placement of the MVAS.
