Marlow holds Ceremony of Remembrance

10.45am, Sunday, 10th November at the War Memorial, The Causeway

Marlow’s Ceremony of Remembrance, organised by Marlow Town Council and the Marlow Royal British Legion, will be held on Remembrance Sunday, 10th November on The Causeway.

The Parade, comprising members of the armed forces, veterans, Royal British Legion, cadets, local organisations, Brownies, Guides and Scouts, will start from the Royal British Legion Headquarters at approximately 10.30am. Led by the Scots Guards Association Pipe Band, it will arrive at the War Memorial on the Causeway at 10.45am. The service starts at 10.50am and is led by Rev Canon Dave Bull from All Saints’ Church.

The Countess Howe, His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, will lead the wreath-laying and after the Service will take the Salute from the podium near the gold post box. Nearby parishes and organisations around the town will also be laying their wreaths.

Marlow Mayor, Cllr David Brown, will be joined by representatives from Marly-le-Roi. “This event is always well-supported by the town,” he said.  “I’m hoping this year will be no exception and people will gather with us to remember the fallen.”

After the Service, the Parade will march up the High Street, around the obelisk and back down to the Royal British Legion HQ in Station Approach.

The High Street will be closed to traffic from 08.00am until 12.00pm, with no parking on the High Street down to the bridge, which will also be closed, together with The Causeway. The Council requests that residents make use of car parks and walk to the ceremony. The Station Approach area should be avoided between 11.30am and 12.30pm when the parade is disbanding.
