Marlow has been awarded the prestigious Michaelis Cup for winning the small towns category of Buckinghamshire’s Best Kept Village Competition.
The official presentation took place on Saturday, 20th September, in the Higginson Room of Court Garden House. Bill Chapple, OBE, Chairman of Buckinghamshire’s Best Kept Village Competition, presented the award to Mayor of Marlow, Cllr David Brown.
In his acceptance speech, Cllr Brown said: “On behalf of Marlow Town Council and all our residents, I would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the judging committee of Buckinghamshire’s Best Kept Village for this honour. This accolade is a wonderful recognition of our town’s collective effort, and a welcome result of the dedication and hard work of the Marlow Town Council team, community groups, and residents. It inspires and motivates us to aim for another victory next year.“
The Buckinghamshire’s Best Kept Village Competition, established in 1957, is a county-wide initiative designed to encourage pride in local communities. The judging committee evaluates villages and towns on a range of criteria including cleanliness, maintenance of public areas and community engagement.
Marlow’s victory in the small towns category reflects the town’s commitment to creating a welcoming and attractive environment for both residents and visitors.
