This year, Marlow is thrilled to welcome BBC weather presenter Carol Kirkwood to officially switch on the town’s Christmas lights. Carol, who is a familiar face to viewers across the UK, will help kick off the festive season with a spectacular display of lights, music, and entertainment for all the family.
“We’re delighted to welcome Carol to Marlow to help us switch on our Christmas lights,” said Town Mayor Muryel Boulay. “It’s always a special moment for our town, and having a familiar face from the BBC join the celebrations makes it even more enjoyable. We look forward to seeing families and friends come together to enjoy the festive atmosphere.”
“I’m really looking forward to coming to Marlow to switch on the Christmas lights” said Carol. “It’s such a beautiful town with a fantastic community spirit, and I’ve always loved visiting. I can’t wait to see everyone gathered together to celebrate the start of the festive season — I forecast a wonderful snowy evening.”
The event starts at 6.00 pm on Thursday 20th November, with the Switch On at 6.30pm. ‘Snow’ will fall in the High Street as people gather around the double-decker bus, which will be stationed at the junction of the High Street and Institute Road. Stilt walkers and entertainers will stroll along the High Street as people gather to enjoy the start of the Christmas season.
Marlow’s Christmas lights display has become a popular draw for residents, bringing many people into the town to shop and enjoy the coffee shops, bars and restaurants in and around the High Street.
The High Street will be closed from 3.30pm – 8.00 pm.
