COVID Vaccination Update

Update from Marlow Medical Group

Since my last update Marlow Medical Group (MMG) and our network of practices have been able to administer a further 2702 vaccinations having run clinics on 10 and 12 February 2021.  A further clinic is being run on Thursday 18 February 2021 and depending on vaccination delivery we hope run a further three clinics the following week.  I will publish those dates as soon as they are confirmed.

We have now started vaccination of our housebound residents which has required careful organisation to ensure that all vaccine can be administered each day within the refrigeration timescales.  We have completed vaccination of approximately 50% of our housebound residents and this shall continue over the coming weeks.

We have also completed further visits to care homes to vaccinate residents and staff who we could not complete during the first wave of visits e.g. due to Covid outbreaks or people who had tested positive and had to wait one month after to receive their vaccination.

As you will have seen on the news there are multiple booking systems.  Patients receiving a letter are directed to book through the central Government system calling 119.  This offers vaccinations at the mega centres and pharmacy led clinics.  GP practices are inviting patients via text messages and phone calls where patients have no mobile number.  If you have received a text invite from your GP practice and choose to have your vaccine elsewhere it would be very helpful if you can use the cancel option in your text invite. This will help us focus on contacting people who have not made a booking.   Medical records are updated from the central NHS system regardless of where you have chosen to be vaccinated but this can take time as the vaccination centre processes their vaccination paperwork.  We continue to monitor that all patients have received a vaccination and are writing to patients who have no mobile and have not received a vaccination.

We have now invited all patients in Group 1-4.

To avoid duplication of invites, Patients in Group 5; 65-70 years old shall start to receive NHS letters inviting them for vaccination and are encouraged to book via the central 119 system.

MMG and our network of practices will now start to invite Group 6; all individuals aged 16 to 64 years with underlying health conditions.

A person’s covid status has been determined by Public Health England not your GP.  We are strictly following government group guidelines.

To enable us to focus on running the vaccination programme we kindly ask that you don’t call the surgery unless absolutely necessary.  We will contact you via text or phone call.

If you are a carer please ensure you complete a carer’s registration form available on our website https://www.marlowdoctors.co.uk/navigator/register-a-carer/ .

If you have difficulty in getting to Adams Park here are details of some Bucks volunteer transport services.

https://chiltern-dial-a-ride.net/home/

This can be used by residents who are elderly, disabled or who have mobility problems using normal or public transport.

For patients with no transport means.  The team will then endeavour to match a local offer of transport for the patient, whether this is via a voluntary scheme or local taxi firm.

Both these services run Monday to Friday only.

Finally a huge thank you to all our amazing volunteers and for all the generous food donations we have received.  These are really appreciated and welcomed by all of us.
