ENVIRONMENTAL COMPETITION

BEST KEPT VILLAGE 2012

Marlow has been judged in the Best Kept Village Competition as being runner-up in the Michaelis Cup Category.  Marlow narrowly missed out to Olney.  The judge's made the following comments:

  • All churches are well looked after. The cemetery was well maintained.
  • Higginson Park was well maintained and tidy with a whole range of facilities.  The play area within has good robust equipment and was well used.  Gossmore Recreation Ground was well kept.
  • Council Offices and Liston Hall were nicely presented
  • May Balfour Garden is a haven with its good planting.  The conservation area in Higginson Park is well managed.

  • The areas around the shops and public houses are outstanding and well presented considering the many visitors and vehicles that frequent the town.
  • The scenic backdrop of the River Thames and Marlow Lock and their management were very good.  The War Memorial was exemplary, well maintained to a high standard as were the flower borders surrounding the feature.

  • The absence of general litter was well apparent. Marlow is a town that continues to take pride in the community and strives to maintain its standards.

These are fantastic comments and we hope to improve on this next year by taking the Michaelis Cup! Thank you to everyone who makes Marlow such a great town.
